Stetsom 14k2d

are u kidding me ,so what you're saying is that technology has tapped out for car amps. (i guess that's why so many companies use the same amp boards or similar ) i've been in this game a long time, over 20 yrs and i've seen amps go from 30 watts( punch 30 ) too 15,000 (tk15) watts all off car electrical, so I know its still room for improvement . I guess they would have laughed me out the stores 20 yrs ago, if I would have told them that in 20 yrs we would have amps that put out over 10,000 watts on cars electrical. and I also think that future cars will have more than a 12-14 volt system. And the ohm law, lol laws are meant to be broken

You cannot make anything over 100% efficient -- if you did the entire world would run on them.

Think of it this way... if I put 20 watts in and get 100 watts out then I can feed 5 more machines and get 500 watts... then feed 20 more machines and get 2000 watts... does that sound possible to you ?

ya i dont get it either....

i dunno how this stuff is working right now with these amps...

i know one thing.... either batts get more efficient and smaller, car electrical systems go to 120 volts or we will all be running 30 batts in comp as a normal procedure just to power our 30k amps....

I know that, Jacob , so what you're saying is that amplification technology has reached its peak. now and in the future. there would nerver be a 10,000 watt sundown amp, because u was scared of new technology , I guess that's what Kicker, fosgate, and jbl was thinking when they went with unconventional thinking. There is nothing 100 % but there's always room for improvement, the fosgate t15kw is a prime example, still 15,000 watts on cars electrical. I know we're off the original topic, but this is interesting.

4/0 doesnt really drastically change the amperage capacity of the line(its not tooo much bigger... which prolly has more to do with the length of the wire than the actuall thickness.

i think there is a calcutor on the12volt.com or something...

I currently run these amps in my car,1ohm nominal raising to 3.1ohms and making 8540watts. I also agree that you will get more amperage out of a bigger wire, I use the Stinger 3/0ga wire and the platinum interconnects at the amp and the buss bar. I have 12 Stinger 1700's and I AM the loudest daily driver in Maryland. I have burped sealed on the dash 161.0. Robs amp I believe was hurt in shipping as it got to New York on Monday and shipped from Brazil on friday. Not a bad delivery time but maybe we need to palatize them to get here undamaged....hahahaha for the guy that is waiting for his amp please email me and i will get it taken care of. Thanks for all the input here but we will see at finals this year what does what........

Go Team Stetsom

You still have to contend with the fact that the incoming supply is still a vehicle electrical system at 12-18v DC -- the voltage inside the amp doesn't mean it draws less current from the outside source.
Stetsom and Sound Digital are up there in the ~200 volt range now inside the amp.

As for caps... see the RF T15kw. Caps just store energy - they don't make it. It spreads out the current draw over time -- so the amp draws less from the external source under heavy load and then more under light load to re-charged it's reserve.

Hello Jacob.

Both SD12kD and SD16kD have 250V on the power supply, and a H-bridge output...

Exactly!

if you could connect a battery bank at a few inches of the a big amp it still would be able to make the rated power and using a 4GA cable, as an example.
