I've bought a steering wheel control adapter and for the remote wire it has an uncrimped connector, and a connector plug which is unfamiliar to me(pictured). My headunit (pioneer DEH-S510BT) has a 3.5mm jack remote input. Ive tried finding an adapter between the two but have come up short and am now unsure as to how to proceed. Any help would be muchly appreciated, thankyou for reading :)

From your quick-start manual:

The 3.5mm jack is for a microphone that I believe is included.

The one you're holding seems likely to be for a DSP or CD changer, just extra options if you want them later.

The remote wire is for signalling an amp to turn on elsewhere in the car.
I know there's a remote turn on wire, that one is blue. the mic jack is #3 , the wired remote input is #8(if it was a remote for an amp it'd be an output right?). I have read all the things :[

Not enough information. Some remote units are radio specific while others are stand alone.

Did the instructions on the back of the main module not work? They are vague but give you a general procedure.
