Steel frame vs wood frame

Ok guys what are yalls thoughts on running steel tubing with single layer birch vs 2x4 ran the right way with single layer birch for shell? Figuring I can gain 3" all the way around the shell?

What do you guys think?

It's been done. Provided you have access to the steel stock a good saw and can weld, why not?

Wasting your time. Bracing is. Much more important and efficient.

Go look in ANY of the super loud cars and tell me how much bracing is in them...

They generally do steel frame thick walls and concrete behind that if need be

A good box needs very little if any bracing

Steel frame will work well

You can get loud doing either way

I'm doing a steel cage next time.

My box has ZERO flex being 3" to 6" of solid wood on all sides, but I'm looking to try something new and I can weld.

I vote steel cage
