Steak, how do you like it cooked?

that's alil too rare...but i've eaten steak like that before.

I prefer to get my grill upto somewhre around 450-500 degrees. then i throw the steaks on the top rack for roughly 10-12mins for each side depending on how thick it is and whether i did a rub or a marinate.

if it's a good steak, it should be cooked nothing more than medium rare. end of story.
Werd, if you cook a steak to medium it makes it taste grainy imo. You can get worms eating steak too rare, and won't even know it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Has anyone ever tried steak tartare??

It's raw diced beef, uncooked egg yolks, and other ingredients. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

IMO, dry aged steaks are on other level then wet aged!!!

bought 20 secs each side on the grill

thats fvking nasty

Slap it on the *** and walk it through a warm kitchen.

BTW, "cooking" can start (and should IMHO) before the addition of heat. The use of an acidic medium (lemon, lime, cidar vinegar) in the marinade helps soften the connective tissue and "cook" the meat before you throw it over the flames.

I eat my as rare and bloody as hell as that's where the nutrition is. There's no value in eating denatured salty leather. It's horrible for your gut.

I sometimes watch my meat thermometer and kill the flame on the grill (700*F +) when it hits about 115* F in the center and then let it sit for a minute. Perfect.

You CAN also eat any meat this way, given you verify the quality and health of the animal you're eating. Not always appetizing, but human existance thrived on rare meat and blood for 1000's of years. Animals don't cook anything. Ever see a lion workin' a Weber?

ya get ur grill super hot and throw it on for a short period as long as the center gets 120ish ur good... hell u can eat beef raw as long as its clean meat.. i wouldnt trust the supermarket though lol

I'll normally just order it rare if I go out to eat, because the cooks don't know how to cook a medium rare steak.
People should do this if

1) the restaurant is busy or

2) the restaurant isn't a steakhouse

You also could send the steak back if it's not cooked to your desired doneness and usually you would receive a discount or comp.
