Finally gonna try and fiberglass and thought this would be a pretty good first project to learn on. Just finished glueing in the tweeter mounts to the a-pillars. Prolly am gonna add a couple more supports for some added strength. Gonna lay down the fleece and apply some resin on them tomorrow. Hoping it turns out pretty well for my first time doing it.Will post some updates on my progress tomorrow. Tweets are gonna be the Rainbow Cal 25's.

Post any tips or advice if you want, would appreciate it.

I've never fiberglassed but every pillar build I've seen has used mdf rings for mounting and fiberglass part so you don't **** up the tweeter mount and can change them.

my advice would be to do this a completly differnt way....instead of glassing the tweeter mounting cup i would cut a piece of 1.4" mdf to the shape of that little triangle with a hole for the mounting cup and and use some mdf rings to achieve my desired angle and prob use bondo or something of the like to mold it to that inset and cover it in some black grill cloth for a nice little two tone....the rings would be glued together and attatched at an angle to the inset //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Yeah, I though I would cover the pod in the material and glass it and then cut out the hole again with a dremel drill. I used the surface mounts that came with the tweeters. I still have the flush mounts. Though I would try it with the surface mounts first. But if thats gonna be too hard, I could change and make some mdf rings.

yes he is correct, take his advice

meh.

better ways to do it, but just do not use fleece. use an old tshirt.

and another tip, do not use hot glue if you will be glassing over it. get CA glue if you can find it.

Thanks for the idea. I cant really picture it in my head though. Can you explain it some more?

trace the inset triangle you have on the factory pillar onto a piece of paper and cut it out. Do this until you get an exact or extremely close match. Transfer that onto a piece of 1/4" mdf. Cut an oval into this 1/4" mdf with the wide portion of the oval horizontal. The short portion of the oval should be equal if not slightly larger then the width of your mdf rings. Now cut the same oval in the factory triangle in the same place. Now cut some mdf rings to which you can mount the flush mounts from your tweets to. Start with glueing a couple of them together and angle them through the oval. If they do not get to your desired angle add more rings until you achieve the angle you want. Attach the rings to the mdf using a two part glue such as the glue linked below. Now use bondo or the like to mold these rings to your piece of mdf. Sand them and wrap them in grill cloth. They should fit right in to your little triangle and attatch them from the rear using a couple of short screws.

Thanks alot. That cleared up a lot of questions I had. Sounds like a good idea. Guess I will start to trace out the triangle tomorrow.
