I worked at the Copy Center in the staples here and although we're aware the fact that staples lose money selling a desktop/laptop without any warranty plans none of us were like what you described. I quit working there though because they don't pay **** and it's too much work in the CPC.

 
I work at Staples as one of their computer techs and the job is gay. Staples doesnt make a dime when they sell computers. They actually lose around 150-200 bucks for every computer they sell. So they pressure us into selling overpriced accessories and service plans.
We had two people come in last week wanting to buy laptops and nothing else. No plans or accessories. Our manager told us to find a way to get them to leave because she wasn't going to sell them the computers unless they bought the extras. I couldnt believe how fucked up staples is to do such a thing.

Im considering quitting due to how fucked up their business model is and how lame the job is. "Staples, that was easy" my ***.
Hah. Yeah it was great. We had only 2 laptops left for one of the guys. My manager told us to stall the dude while she "looked" for it. We had one left but she told the guy it was an open box and she didnt feel comfortable selling it. He ended up walking away mad.
The other couple I felt bad for. They were some japanese couple who spoke bad english. They brought in an old laptop to do a trade in to get credit towards a new one. These two came in literally 10 minutes after the other dude left. They didnt want any accessories or programs so my manager told us to find a way to turn them away. We ended up making some bs excuse on how we can only accept "english copies of windows". Which is bs because Im quite sure there is no difference other than installed language packs. I felt bad and they eventually left.
Plus the job is gay in general. Its boring running endless diaganostic software and then being told "what the heck" when asked why I didnt mention our service plans to someone on the phone when all they were calling about is whether or not we have a monitor in stock.
Start telling customers on the side to pretend they are going to buy a copy of windows and some other accessories, then remove them from the shopping cart on their way to the register.
