Depends how much power you're running man. Both would sound clean with a good install I'm sure. Do you have a big enough amp and stout enough electrical to power an xcon? If not, Icon probably the better bet.

forgot to add, the sub will be going into a 2.1^3 ported @ 28hz. ran by jl 1000/1 so plenty of power.

with only a 1000 id go icon. i would just feel bad for an xcon only being fed 1000 watts. lol

I would go with the Xcon. You could always buy a bigger amp down the line and run more power to it.

this is totally true , and until i unwound my coil i could prove it. I am running a earthquake PH-D2 (known as the shredder for shredding voice coils with its high amount of THD) and a poweracoustik MOFO 12. Not exactly an SQ substage , LMAO!! But at medium listening levels it was a very pleasing sound , nearly even output across the board , accurate for the most part also. Then i got greedy , wired the sub @ 1 ohm , shot over double rated power to it , did a few hairtricks and what have you , now i'm on the verge of having no sub. ive got a similar question ive got 1000watts and my box is 3 cubes tuned to 35hz and im lookin at ordering a sub tonite i wana do the xcon do yall think it will do ok i plan on doin a sundown 1500 later and i want the most spl with retaining sq too

Definitely Icon then. Even at 1500w I'd stick with the Icon. Both are great subs, but there is no reason to go for the Xcon until you're in the 2kW+ range. And that's a whole 'nother world of electrical upgrades and what not.

Ok, Icon it is for me then. Xcon would be a waste because I never plan on upgrading to 2000 watts. Only reason I asked for the xcon is because a member was selling two in the classifieds.

If you have the funds for the XCON go for it because both subs sound the same at 1k rms and as mentioned with the XCON you'll have the ability to almost triple that if you choose. I would go with a bigger box though.
