I was thinking much the same.either would probably be fine, but it hasnt been out that long so just wait.. or buy both yourself.
Well once again, it is all in the install. That ICON was brand new, was the Q brand new or broken in?TL Numbers from Kent.
SSA ICON with 1100rms.
Enclosure: 2.0ft^3 ported box with a 4” port tuned to 34hz.
TL Score: 132 db at 40hz.
Great 12" Challenge.
FI Q with 1000rms.
Enclosure: 2.2 cubic feet.
TL Score: 135 at 40 hz.
Driver Notes:
* Build quality is excellent
* Woofer has alot of output potential below 40hz ported
* Woofer will be ok with muscial content over RMS rating(under 1800 watts).
So the Q was roughly 3 db's louder, with 100rms less power. And the box was within .2 cubic feet of the box kent used. I know this doesn't take into account the vehicle, but 3 db's is a big difference. It would take 2 ICON's to reach the same output as a single Q.
And like I said, my Q sounded amazing. The Q sounded amazing, and is louder than your ICON.
All things were not equal, being a different size box, and obviously different amps since the power was different, and more than likely a different source unit and vehicle.All I am saying. Is all things being equal, the Q seems to be a better performer for the same price. There is a possibility the Icon could be just as loud as the Q, but I would be willing to bet the Q does have more output. And since the Q has great SQ, I just thought it would be a better choice.
But I guess if I was selling the ICON I would say it is better too lol.
