Hi Squeek.

Thanks for the informative reply. What I meant was by the 'calculated' sensitivity was the sensitivity that WinISD Pro was giving by using the T/S parameters. I didnt actually mean the FS/Qts was the actual formula, (I didn't know the formula off the top of my head). I just meant by using T/S parameters.

Alright so I had another look at WinISD to see wtf was going on and I found I entered the T/S data wrong! Doh! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Ok my bad. No wonder it was coming up with sensitivities of 79db/EBPs of 7.

Ok I'll shutup and sit in the corner now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have a Adire Tempest 15 in a 2 cuft box and it doesn't hit 30Hz like I want it to. If anyones listened to "Late Night Tip", there is 3 main bass notes, and my sub doesn't hit the lowest one (~32Hz IIRC) as loud as the other 2. Hmmm will the RL-P 15 sealed in the same box do the job?

Alright, I'll say it

answer: maybe not.

In my personal instance (granted, the enclosure was relatively small sealed at 1.65 for each 12" RL-P), they had audible trouble outputting the lowest lows. Quite the opposite running PG Titanium Elite, Alpine Type X, and surprisingly... also Infinity Perfect.

I have little doubt that you could GET the RL-P hitting the basement, but that would take some experimentation with different enclosures. Try porting with a low tuning frequency. You may be able to defy the theoretical graphs and hit a sweet-spot for your application.

your box is too small

Not sure where you went wrong...but my single 12" Rl-p in 1.25cuft sealed w/ 700w RMS didn't have a problem shaking my car with the 18hz tone in Planet Kryptonite or the low 20hz tones in Toccata B on the IASCA disc.

It's a mystery. Audible steep roll-off started as high as ~40 Hz. It's quite possible my SUV's acoustics contributed to this. But, I did not experience this sharp roll-off with some other woofs in the same vehicle, enclosure positioned identically.

Just what I experienced with limited variables, your mileage may vary

Yeah the rl-ps have some real real strange T/S parameters. For example, cross calculating their sensitivity is way off by using the Fs/Qts etc. Also box modeling with software shows the drivers are absolute poo with F3s well above 70Hz.
Maybe they got them wrong? Because the RL-Ps are highly respected. I'm tempted to get a 15 but I'm scared it wont hit low in a sealed box. I'm talkin 25-35Hz easy.

Fs has almost nothing to do with bass extension.

You want it to hit 12 hz, You an make it hit 12hz, you just need the right high pass filter, and this goes for ANY driver. I can show you dozens of home theater subwoofers based off similar drivers that hit very low notes.
