Sq?

makes the music come alive. i set alot of bass heads onto the rightious path many times. nothing wrong with being a basshead if you choose to be its just alot of people dont think you can get the whole ball of wax from a car system....you can.

some people don't just want a lot of bass in their cars. They just want to hear some the lows played the way they were meant to be, but not to shake the entire car.

although something that's metered flat on an RTA might not "sound" the best to a person's ears //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

...and around and around we go...j/k.

the best way for you to "get it" is go to a highend home stereo shop (not best buy or circuit city) and take a listen. there are alot of factors in sq. i can say in lehman terms that sq is brighter more clear more detailed but with no reference to anything else it becomes meaningless.

rta means very little other than the fact it demenstrates the ability to be able to do the whole spectrum. you might like tweeters that cut off at 15k but they wouldnt sound realistic at all

sound quality...subjective to the lisenter, their opinion of how good it sounds to their ears.
While you can prefer the sound of one thing over another, but that doesn't make it totally subjective. Things can be wrong sound quality wise as far as accuracy and tonality. Just because you personally like it, doesn't mean it is actually being reproduced the way it was originally intended (which is true sound quality; the reproduction should sound just like it was intended when recorded, no more no less).

Anyways saintluey, if you've ever heard a good setup (and likewise a bad setup), you'd know the differences. It's less obvious on music like rap than it is with rock/classical/etc...real music. Take a double-peddle kick-drum being played at a fast tempo. On a sub setup with good sound quality, each "hit" should sound very tight and independent of the next "hit", and it should sound like you were standing right next to the actual drum and not just a "thud". If you listened to that same double-peddle kick-drum on a sub setup with poor sound quality, each "hit" would be hard to differentiate from the next "hit".....it'd sound more like a constant flow rather than independent hits, and they'd sound more like thuds rather than an actual sound.

I too was once a bass head....but I have seen the light //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif Now I'm a SQueer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

And BTW, don't think SQ means that you can't like it loud aswell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

think of a stereo as a car...

consider the SPL aspect of it to be brute horsepower, and the SQ is the styling, aesthetics, and overall appeal of the car.

you can have a complete junker withloads of power that absolutly hauls ***, or you can have a refined car suitable for daily driving that will appease your taste as well as others, or you can have an overdone showcar that isnt fast and if you take it on the streets you risk damaging something.

likewise you can either have balls out SPL, a good mix suitable for your taste, or something that is purely intended to reproduce sound as it is meant to be...

all of course is subjective to the listener, different strokes for different folks...
