Obviously phasing and tuning takes no talent? Personally I think both are **** hard to do correctly. I dare you to go up to Gates and tell them SPL takes no work.

Again..I have no Favorite either way..I know it comes off like I am saying SPL is "easy".I am just saying hat "overall" SPL is essentially eting the sysem LOUD

And I am having 10 times more work trying o get my dumb *** to figure out how to complete my next project of an SQ system..If I had stayed with the SPL style target I would be done by now.

Not Competition either. I know those guys in Comp essentially need to create a power plant in thier car. I am talking about the Kid in the Honda who just wants to BUMP..Thats the SPL am talking about and that just Power and surface area!!!

SPL takes a whole lot more then throwing subs in a box and calling it good. If it's that easy why are there such complex boxes and etc. I don't think you know the first thing about REAL spl (aka 170db'ers, not just 140), and I don't either. It takes a LOT of work, tons of hours spent getting everything to perfection.

give me $5000 and I bet I could menatlly assemble the "components" for an SPL system in 10 minutes. and after it is installed it would be just as "loud" as the guy who spent $5000 but 6 months thiking about his SPL system!!

I am not debaing Installs here..I am debating the "Science " of creating SQ as opposed to SPL

No one here is going to be able to tell the diffrence between a few DB's..when we are talking over 125db's....thats why SPL is judged by machines..SQ is judged by...Judges

But, this thread never specified if we were talking about competition systems or street systems. If we are talking competition systems, then yes, the both take about the same amount of knowledge, work and time. If we are talking street systems, then I agree with Depression, anyone can throw a few subs in a ported box and get loud (to the ear), but it will take more knowledge and time to get a car to image and soundstage correctly with correct tonal balance (or atleast close).

So what the hell is the point!!!! I can create a systen for $5000 so that you cannot sit in the car..thats my point exactly..doesn't matter the subs or box spcs..I just need to get it so loud you cannot listen to it and that makes all "consumer"SPL systems the same from a average person point of view.
