ok, i got my 4 cft3 box tuned to 34-36 hz and its not really that loud, it sounds like it's really distant. I have them facing the glass if the hatch in my golf. how can i improve the sq as well as making them louder...?

i'm running a RF bd1500.1 amp for them

i am thinking of just throwing them in a sealed box ans sacrificing alot of output...what yall think??

ported i cant really more then 4 cubes, i am perfect with 3 cubes...not really worth porting 3 cubes for dd's is it?

sspider

I think it'd be very hard to benefit the best of both worlds. DD's are known to get loud, not heard of an SQ car DD"s yet..

I've only heard the 9515 and 9917's, and they're just insanely loud.

Try moving the box a bit to see if you can reduce bass cancellation(if any). SOmetimes, people say reversing polarity makes the sub seem distant. IT's an obvious mistake, which can happen, so check again, just to make sure.

Steve (ss3079) has a dd9515 in a box that swallows little children. You could ask him for help.

i'll look into the polarity thing...i think i might flip the box around and see what happens...

but i kno that they are not as loud as i hoped for....

ughhhhhhh

thanks

then your not using them right.

ported 4 cubes at 40 htz will blow your head off at 1k watts each.

i second v8s10's sentiments.

just about anything that will swallow the brunt end of a bd1500 is going to get silly loud.

i think that the problem lies in the box. maybe you don't have enough port area or maybe there's some leakage around the sub or one of the seams......or maybe you're just going deaf and 140 db's just doesn't sound as loud as it used to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you'd note at the *top* of the thread, he says he wants to gain SQ at the same time...

This is not the way to accomplish it.

jlaine, the big ol' mighty...

question, how much for a brahma 15 shipped?

and how might i aquire sq from these guys. I need to work with what i have, i jumped the gun and bought along time ago, i might as well see what i can do with them, and an RF bd1500, i kno you can help me figure some thing out untill i can power a brahma with that much power....

again the subs in questions are 2, yes, i say two DD 3512...

wuts the diagnosis here mr. jlaine

The diagnosis would be a very very very large, or infinite baffle designed enclsoure. (or lack thereof in the case of IB...)

IB is really the best option, and one of the easiest to setup!

You may lose some of the "loudness" overall, but you'll gain leaps and bounds in terms of audible quality. If you want it louder in terms of your "ear," tune lower and add some more space. Human hearing tends to over-emphasize the lower octaves more than they actually are, and the added chamber size and lower tuning will place emphasis on those octaves and give you what you were after.

Price on the B15 will be PM'd to you - I don't sell things directly on the forum proper as this is a place for learning... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

how much bigger? i currently run 4 cubes for my box and really dont want a box that big, i could do bigger but then i would have to fiberglass it and mold out all the curves and spaces in the hatch.

how will these subs respond in a sealed box maximun of 3 cubes....

once agian i am sorry to burdon yall with these questions but i am in alittle but of a pickle here...

For a sound quality standpoint, a minimum of 3 cubes each is needed really...

Honestly the best option would be infinite baffle - otherwise a large ported enclosure... Sealed is almost a joke with the driver as it's designed.

wouldn't an IB sub los a lot of tight bass? My old install was in IB, and the shop had to add a 6" mid bass driver to compensate for the loss.
