I am changing my setup and going for a somewhat sq setup. Not a sq setup per say but more sq then spl. I will be running no subs of any kind. Amp to be used is my MBQ 4.125 does 250x4@2ohm rms. Whats ur thoughts?? Mids will be crossed from 65hz - 5k and the tweets will be crossed at 1.8k and up...

First run 4 of these - Silver Flute W17RC38-04 ohm 6-1/2" Wool Cone: Madisound Speaker Store wire each pair for a 2ohm load and run one set off channel 1 and second set off channel 2. So each set would see 250 watts all 4 getting 500. 2 in the doors and the other 2 in the deck.

Then use channels 3&4 I will run 2 sets of SB Acoustics SB26STCN-C000-4 tweeter, 4 ohms: Madisound Speaker Store each paired wired down to a 2ohm load per channel. So each set would see 250 watts all 4 getting 500. All 4 will be on the a pillars.

Real help needed. No bs if u dnt know what u speak then plz leave. Not looking for perfect sq just something loud and clean and clear.

Just a little heads up Im not sure how well suited those would be for door use. Theyre pretty low Q.
Already been running a pair for over a year in doors with great results.

just curious by why do you want both speakers to play 1.8k to 5k? what crossover you plan on using?
LOL IDK thats why I am asking for guidance. I hope to get an active HU one day but for now I will be using the amps crossovers. Thats 1.8 up to round 20+k for the tweets. The 5k will be the cutoff for the mids.

To be honest if your going for SQ your going to need to do plenty of door work before you install those. With no door work and no sub your low end will be lacking if you dont.

with that kind of power id at least bring your tweet crossover up to 2.5k if u can and id cross the flutes at about 2.5-2.75k you shouldnt need them to play up that far with the tweets being there
What he said. Also, the whole idea of sq is to have everything sound like the artist intended from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. You need a sub for that and one with the lowest output distortion you can find. 8 inch would work but you would likely be lacking below 40 Hz or so. A 10 inch is most common. Use a small sealed box too for best results or a ported one but built perfectly (way more difficult). Sub aside, what you are planning is going to be super hi ended is my feeling. 4 tweeters?!? Overkill IMO. Use one good set and a strong midbass (not familiar with your choices) and make sure your doors are deadened and SEALED or it will sound like bunk. As for crossovers and slopes, a good rule for starting point is 4 kHz for mid/tweet crosses with as steap a slope you can muster (24 db is great). 99.9 % of sq guys space out their crossover points by a bit to eliminate the same frequencies being played by 2 sets of speakers. Running 1.2 kHz to 5 kHz to all speakers will destroy your center image. You will have frequencies all over the vocal spectrum pulling to various speakers. If you are serious too, get yourself a good eq too. Something 30 band or so would work perfect. Time alignment is very important too. Hope some of this helps.

false

There are not many 8 inches out there that go much lower than 40 Hz with any authority. There are a few sure but not many. A 10 inch or 12 do a WAY better job of it.
i belive its all in the box. and if you can throw down 150 on an 8" sub you can get one that'll do it. not really saying your wrong, just saying there are subs that will do it

Most choose to not overlap frequencies. It can cause more issues than anything. Look into different ways of accomplishing your goal and read a bunch and you'll be just fine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

For someone just getting into the SQ area, you may want to find some mids that are able to play up to 2.5k, and tweeters that can play down to 1.5-2k area. That way you can adjust yourself and experiment a tad. If you lock yourself in with your drivers and something doesn't sound right, it's much more expensive to fix. (***If you are going 2-way active only***)

As far as tweeters, Vifa, SB, etc make some nice budget offerings that may work well for you.

Mids can be tricky in-car due to depth and space limitations, so find out what'll work for you and the amount of work you want to have to do.

Also, if you aren't ready for an active head unit or expensive processor but want more flexibility than the amplifier's x-over section, there are some external x-overs that are pretty cheap and functional. Memphis XO3 comes to mind.

Best of luck with all of this.
