SQ: 12" vs. 15"

I have a friend who claims that 15 inchers don't sound as good as 12 inchers because they get sloppy at that size. I clall BS, does anyone else agree? Generally speaking, do 15" subwoofers sound bad in comparison to 12" of the same sub?

EDIT: oh, and if "it depends on the subwoofer" then lets say a RE SX sense that's what I'm aiming for.

15's are the way to go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
not really. YOu can get just about any size to sound good, its just a preference of music mostly. 10s 12s and 15s seem to have a slight difference in sound. 10s are a bit more punchy, 12s and 15s not as much. All can sound good though. Im not going to say their is a best, but Ive seen more 10s and 12s than anything.

It's all in the enclosure design man..

15s can sound punchy, but you have to do a little more with the box. Ive ran 12s and 15s in my car. Each time ive ran them, I built the enclosure to all factory specs, and compared the 12s to the 15s in their sql enclosures, and the 12s hit a bit tighter, and handled the higher frequencys better. Ofcourse the 15 dominated on the low end, and output. You can alter the sounds ofcourse through box design, but im just going from the factory specs for the sq box. In the end im going with 12s, because I can fit more of them in my car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the main factor in determining how a sub sounds is the box, period. i have lots of friends with w6v2's and w7's and what not in pre fab'd boxes they picked up from cc thinking that a box is a box and they always seem to get pissy when i throw in, for say a kicker cvr in a box i built to specs, and the sounds quality of the $70 cvr surpasses the sq of their $500 speakers.

What about different types of music? Are there differences when listening to rock with lots of fast, tight bass drum when compaired to rap with longer, smoother bass hits?
