SPL woofer question

I own a JL 10w7 with Focal Utopia's. I was considering purchasing some 15" RE MT's for SPL. Ive never heard SPL woofer's before so I was wondering how they sounded when Rock music was playing. I listen to rap and R&B alot, but I do listen to rock sometimes too; Chili Peppers, AC/DC, Tool....

I own a single cab truck and wanted to do a bed cut with Two 15" MT's. Does anyone have any other sub recommendations? Maybe theres somethin equally as good or better? wanting to get the best subs for the price. and if you had any Amp suggestions for them, that'd be great too. Thanks!

Those would be one of my last choices for listening to music. They're fine if you just like to beat on things for a while, but I thought they were really quite poor when I wanted to enjoy a good listen.

Is there any reason why you want to move away from your W7?

I loved my MT 18's for all types of music. To me they really shine on rock, 80's music, etc. Rap was a killer. Anything with a hard beat in it is crazy with the MT's. The upper bass response is a lot better than other subs I have owned.

Definitely not an "SQ" woofer, but they can sound great as a daily woofer in the correct setup.

Just finished rebuilding my wall and have (4) MT 15's on order.

I just like to be able to shock people sometimes. I was looking for something stronger than my w7. the w7 is a great sub, but I just wanted to FEEL the bass when I wanted to, I guess I want the best of both worlds. my 10w7 is powered by 500/1.

Should I just upgrade to 13w7? or is there somethin else?

As long as you have a proper enclosure "spl" woofers can sound just fine in a daily application. All I really listen to is rock/metal and mine sound just fine.................................. A lot of people just enjoy talking out of their ***.

IMO you have to choose. Do you want an SPL setup or a setup that slams harder then your current setup and still sounds good? You are listing music that you want to listen to, so I am assuming you want a LOUD daily pounder.

My personal prefrense would shy me away from MT's for that, even though they get loud. You also need to consider how much power you will be running. You may want to look at the 13w7's if you like the 10" or maybe Fi's BL or even the Q series. I'm only speaking from what I have heard with my own ears though.

You must be a magician then. Or your ego is legitimately as big as you pretend to be in your posts. Or, perhaps you have lead ears....

Regardless, I have heard quite a number of different MT setups and have never once thought "boy, I could really enjoy listening to music every day with this sub".

Keep in mind, I'm not JUST talking about MT's.YOU basically generalized all "SPL" subs into one category of no good for daily drivers....................... I don't personally run MT's. but I run TRF's (4hp motors) and maybe it's just the 4hp's, but they do sound decent. If you're into smooth jazz, would I recommend them, no.If you're listening to rap.........electronically created basslines, I HIGHLY doubt you'll hear someone say "hey you must be running a SPL sub, right?" Bass is bass for christ sakes.

Once you get to a certain volume level though, there is no more sound quality................

Edit: Then again, you are from canada..........no one expects you to have a brain.
