I have a 90 beretta gtz with the fold down rear seat and I need to build a compition spl ported box.I picked my sub to be the type r 15" 2+2 dvc.How large of a enclosure do i need to kick ***.I was thinking 4-5 cu ft.How about 10 or 11 cu ft is that way to much.

Why ya gettin the alpines I thought you were gettin some hx2s and for pure spl comp I would take the power hx2s over the pines anyday but if you dont the alpine subs would not do to good in a 10 ft ported box LOL. Iwould check with Taylor he is a apline expert around this place.

you want that big of a box get an Orion HCCA. them bad boys LOVE big *** boxes like that especially ported. but i assume you don't want that, anyway don't build a 10ft box way too big go with the smaller one you thought of. and yeah why not the HX2's they will rip a new one in the Type R's??

keep it thumpin,

adam

I must agree that the Type R's are not primarily used for SPL. But, if you insist, I would go with a ported box tuned to 45-55 hertz. This will sound terrible for everyday music listening, and totally defeat the purpose of Alpine's SQ, but it will give you a chance to get into the 140's. I think that this one-tone box will get very old before long, though.

straight from the alpine rep...2.25 cubic feet with a 4x10inch square port......put your subsonic filter at 30hz and lowpass filter @ 80hz, I know it's high but thats what he told me....

lots of power too, but still i used sealed and hit 140 @ the dash, 155.4 in outlaw, the juggernaut with ported and a mmats class d amp hit only 1 db higher. plus i designed my car for sq....

People say RF don't like ported boxes but i was interested in the punch hx2 because it is in tha same price range as the type r.For SPL your sub doesn't really matter to an extent. So I am guessing that i should build my box like 4 or so cu ft.

you could try it, the only subs i know of that get louder as you increase box size (not to big of course) are solobarricks and DD....
