How does cone surface effect your SPL numbers?

Example: the IA Death Row 12's are rated at 1000 watts rms and the IA Death Row 18's are also rated at 1000 watts rms. So if I were to put the same ammount of power to each of these in the same vehicle using the optimum size box for each sub, which would produce the larger SPL?

ummm no. in a small car the 12 more than likly would be louder. in a suv the 18 can get louder...

Ya, but box is key to all this. Every vehicle is different and every box is different. Built as many as 20 different boxes for one vehicle getting everything the way it should be and to its loudest potential, can get costly and frustrating, but worth it in the end! lol

yeah, i think im gonna have someone hook me up with some plans once I get my equipment and then Ill put it together myself.

Looks like im gonna be going with 2 18" HDC3A's, 2 AQ2200D's, couple extra batteries, bunch of 1/0 wire, 200amp alt,big 3, nicer HU, nicer speakers, and a ported box tuned for 30-35hz.
