The port allows you to tune your sub. Different dimensions and different shapes can give you different sounds at different frequencies. Also, subs are listed with different Hz that your driver should be tuned to that will give you optimal performance at whatever range it is you are looking for.

but how accurate must the port size be?

if you have a big amp (1200wrms + or- a few) go sealed.but if you only got 3 or 400 ported.

Wow, Yes, jeez i can hardly remeber when i was in your guyz' state of mind, but yes, ported in the right app can gain - 5 to 7db which is the equivielent of you noobz spending 2-3 times as much on your amp and sub setup. period. spend 60 hrs research before you think any further about box buidling.

well, i dont have ANY tools in my house. well, i have a screw driver, a soddering iron, and a dremmel. lol. oh, and a hammer...

yeah. i think it'd be easier/cheaper for me to just get it made from a specialist locally, or maybe online
