SPL loss through sunroof.

welding up the sunroof with thick sheet metal. applying layers of deadener.

Would replacing the glass altogether with 1/8 sheet metal be a viable option?

I would need to find some sort of beauty panel for the outside, the inside already has a cloth cover.

when it's welded up and sanded properly it'll look like the sunroof never existed on the outside.

best way is to cut off the roof, and replace with a roof that didnt have a sunroof.

problem with welding up and sanding and bondoing to fix so doesnt look like you had a sunroof is once that roof starts flexing the bondo will crack thus the paint cracking and looking like shit

Definately not going to replace the entire roof lol.

And the flex issue is why I thought a seperate plate to fit on top of the sheet metal might be a good idea.

I worked at a body shop for a year or so but I am by no means a pro.

It definitely does release a good amount of pressure when u start to get loud. The sunroof in my jetta flexes terribly right now. Its just gonna get worse when i double the power though.

Eventually i'll prolli just sheet metal over it and weld it up. We have a welder at the shop and i can do the majority of the welding myself.

Without actually taking out the glass the only way i can think of helping out the flex would be to weld sum supports in as close to the edges as possible. Would prolli help a little bit but the only way to really fix it would be to remove the glass

I have someone sit on my sunroof at comps...it's really taking a beating and at somepoint im going to have to do something about it as well and maybe just become a bassracer with it welded shut and supported.
