Spl comparisson. Pdx vs hifonics

Uh, what ohm load will you be running them at?

At 4 ohms, the Alpine would be your choice since it is rated to give you 1,000 watts RMS @ 2 or 4 ohms. The Hifonics is only rated to give 850 and in real life you should expect 700 watts out of the Hifonics @ 4 ohms.

At 2 ohms, the Alpine is rated to give you 1,000 watts RMS and I believe the Hifonics is rated to deliver 1700 watts RMS. Although the Hifonics is overrated, it should still produce close to 1,500 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. In a perfect world, doubling the power would give you 3 decibels of SPL, so in theory you "should" be 1.5 decibels louder with 50% more power. In real life it doesn't always work out that well since you have electrical load, physical limitations of your speakers, and so on.....

Of course, 1 ohm is a no brainer.... Go Hifonics because I think the Alpine isn't rated to run at 1 ohm!

As much as I like to bash Hifonics, I will say that it is affordable and it will do the job that you want it to do;)
