SPL Build Memphis or Soundstream

I am currently running 2 12" Memphis Power References, not the current model. I want to run 4

12's when it is all said and done. I was wondering should I try to find 2 more older Memphis's or get 4 Soundstream Tarantula T7's. I want to buil it for SPL comp. The 2 Memphis's I have are already hitting a 135 but I want to be louder. Any Help would be appreciated.

id say work on your box there are always the biggest gains in the enclosure swapping for similar woofers will give you 1db and swapping to a reallly high end woofer wont give you more than 2-2.5 db

135 with 2 12s is kinda sad... I mean, my one 8 hits a 135... try a different box... spl comp is a totally different animal...

Vehicle is a 1972 AMC Hornet Wagon and I am running a 1000 watt JL right now. The power can be changed as I already planned on upgrading the amps when I get new subs, if I get new subs. With my current equipment could I hit 140's?

First, focus on upgrading your electrical, then have somebody design you a box, then put like three layers of deadner throughout your entire car, and then maybe you could do OKAY in a comp..... takes lots of experience, money, and time... You cant just throw this and that into your car and expect to hit 40s 50s and 60s.... but with the right steps taken I suppose you could hit a 140.

I know it isnt the best but it is a prefab box right now. I was already planning on building a new box but didnt know if I wanted to go with 4 12's or keep the 2 I have before I build it.

if you are smart you could get a 150 with a single 12.... it would have to be quite the 12 though....

Just use the 2 12"s you have now, upgrade the elect. like someone said.. throw some more power at them... build a spec box for spl only smaller box lots of port

2 12"s mid/mid upper level subs can do 140's without over kill really

The budget will depend on what route I choose to go. I can always save up money a little longer to get a better setup. Also this is going in an old school AMC Wagon. I have enough room for whatever

2 18's on 6k would get down in a wagon....

being a 4 door wagon tuning will probably be on the lower side. I would first try a new box and electrical upgrades. Your 2 12s on the jl should have no problem hitting a 140. Try a ported box subs up port back. Tuned around 42 hz is my guess for your car
