specific question about components

Ok so I recently got a Honda S2000 as my second car. Its a leased car so I dont want to mess with it too much.

In the stock stereo, the mids are located around the ankles and the tweeters are mounted seperately near shoulder height. Mids are 6.5".

I am looking for a component set under $350 or so preferably. Ive always heard that installing the tweeter that far away from the midbass is not a good idea but my problem is that I dont want to cut anything.

What components wouild you suggest so the tweeter would mount in the stock location at shoulder height and the midbass by the ankles?

or am I going about this the wrong way?

A buddy of mine has his mids in his s2k door and the tweeters up in the a-pillar. There is no problem with separation of drivers, as long as you are able to get your xover freq point and slopes. I think most people have the idea that you must put the tweeter and mids close together is because of improper xover adjustments.

I would suggest getting some CDT EF or HD components. You could get a braxial set if you feel you might have a problem with the seperation. PM me if interested.

Im still doing some research but guys on the S2000 board are recommending the Alpine SPX-177R especially for my specific application.

I have my tweets at shoulder height and the mids in the doors and my stage is above the dash and has a single point source in the middle of my hood or so. It's more about tuning than it is about the equipment IME.

I dunno why they are.

In my budget, the Boston Pro 60 seem to be the most heralded of the choices.
