speaker pop?

when at a stopped position with brake pedal pressed ex: [ sitting at red light, etc....] the head unit lights dim a lot to the bass of the music or whatever. but when i pull off, it pretty much goes away. btw, hu max vol. 30, i usually play at 20, sometimes 22. could this mean the alt is getting weak, a bad ground, or even the factory speaker wire could be dark/ slightly burned out, or maybe too small a gauge? i have no amp on speakers btw. i plan to, and i want to upgrade speaker wire to at least 16g. i wonder if the speaker wire is too small, that if you put too much power through it, that it will burn out. i heard that is the case with power wire. T or F?

Well it sounds like ur alt. isn't that good man. Could also be a bad batt. My HU lights dimm when the bass hits too man so ur niot alone, but its only my hu that dims nothign else.

definately sounds like an alt prob. But if all you have hooked up is a deck, then your not pullin' that much from the battery. What year car are you driving? If its an older model, the alt. may be worn. Upgrading your wire wont hurt a thing. It might even help. Have your alterantor checked at Carquest or Advnaced auto parts. If its not free then it only costs around 5 busck. Hope it helps. Matt.

guys the alt is fine------------at idle there isn't much output and runing your AC or heater will put a heavy load on the idle speed alt

would look into cleaning grounds points and positives of the charging system maybe
