I don't need one of these
I always like posting pics of amp internals when I pull them apart. I had my 500.1 apart because all the wire set screws were stripped... so I took pics and threw them up... it's hard to imagine this thing does 500w

wow, that looks wimpy
that's what I thought, but the rubicons have a good rep and it's never given me problems. I specifically bought it for it's small size and high output. It'll come in handy in my new 4runner, I can tuck it away so it won't make my install look bad. I think the diamond will look better... unless I can get rid of it! I want an Arc or Zapco.

its not how it looks that counts, its how its designed, and the parts used //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

makin an amp do 500w with a small footprint is tough (well how big is it anyways?)

seeing an amp full of components doesnt mean its necesarily good.

footprint is 10.5x8.5 on the base, the board is somewhat smaller

oh i thought it was smaller than that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

but still, if it puts out 500+w, who cares wat it looks like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the 1000-2 is 16x12 I believe. Not too shabby for a 1000 watt a/b amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I'd take a old reference series over a Rubi any day of the week. I just got my hands on a working alpine amp, (well it will be here next week), that is about 30 years old, serial # 0001. It looks like a two story brick with large multiple heatsinks on it than run up and down instead of end to end.

Two on the top are Phase 0 or 180 and the other is sub sonic or hawkins bass control.
