they are good amps, but they can produce a little bit of heat, since they're usually class A/B (reference series)

I had a referance 500 and it was a beast for its day.It had a "high power/high current" switch on the botton and would run down to .5ohms no problem.Would get hot as hell though.But I would say yeah on the "referance" or just about any other SS product for that matter.
