Sort of 1/4 mile related topic for those familiar...

I went to 6 flags yesterday and of course had to ride the infamous Kingda Ka, and kind of got to thinking. It goes from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds. What kind of car could that be equivalent to in the 1/4 or 1/8 mile? I know even the Bugatti Veyron does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, which in 3.5 would probably be going about 80, so this thing has some crazy acceleration.

maybe a full on dragster could do it. I think there is a truck here doin like 4.9s in the 1/8th mile. I dont remember what he was trapping though.

I don't remember correctly but i saw a top gear episode when they were racing the gtr, porsche 911 turbo and the new m3. I think the 0-60 time for gtr was like 3.2 or 3.3. I might be incorrect though.

Ya, and it is retarded. They took down the chiller which was a sweet ride (you have two coasters next to each other, it runs through the track, stops at the end and then runs through the whole things backwards). The new Batman ride is incredibly stupid. It looks like they put it together in a week, and the "sets" they set up inside the ride looks like they cost about 30 bucks each. Hah

Ya, I rode it last night right before it closed. At the top if you look closely (when its pitch black out) you can see NYC lit up. It's awesome... just pauses for a second at the top... then straight back down while spiraling. haha

im not sure what they are called, but at bandimere mile high nationals, they had some cars, i think funny cars that were running like 170@3.2xx seconds 1/4 mile they broke a track record, so **** that ride is pretty intense

kingda ka is a good ride, but rides like that and top thrill dragster have too long of a line IMO for a

You hit 60 mph in just over a half-second. The quarter-mile mark comes and goes in 2.7 sec. at 197.1 mph. Compared to a top-fuel dragster, the Mach 5 is faster off the line — thanks to absolute grip — although the dragster closes the gap a bit once it gets going
