I gots a virus from downloading music I can't open ***** now I'm just moving all my music to my external in safe mode.

On the positive side, time to look at a new computer though since I've got a p4 e-machine. I've wanted to get a mac mini just cause it's small and I'm guessing quite only really need a computer for burning and downloading and apples are virus free? It's somewhat cheap also hopefully I can find a full loaded one on eBay and then I can get the computer desk out of my room and just hook the mini to my tv clear up a lot of space. And it will give me so much more room to do actives! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So I guess what I'm trying to say is... Mac>PC?

Also, getting a virus isn't piracy "catching up with you" it's just part of the game. I pirate stuff all the time and yeah about every 6 months or so I end up having to do a reformat/restore. But that's why I have multiple computers and external HDD's. If your going to do risky things, you have to be prepared to lose.

Although, I will say now that I'm using a completely private tracker for almost everything things have been a lot smoother...

Avast ftw.
Eh?

This should help -> NSFW
Ha I guess you prefer windows. What's a good site to get a cheap but beastly computer? I get discounts at Dell so I'll probably be checking what they have to offer.

Yup private trackers are the way to go. I have some invites to the music one I use if anybody wants one..
What are those?

where were you downloading from?
Pirate bay. It was either bad teacher or Mac miller, kid ink that did me in!

Yuck, I can't stand Dell. The only thing that comes to mind is since Dell owns Alienware can you get a discount there? How beastly are we talking?

Go to Newegg.com and buy one there. You can also get good deals if you buy a package and put it together urself but you would need to know more than the average joe to do correctly. If nothing else use newegg for reviews, they have really good ones and the manufacturers ussually chime in on reviews that are bad to give further information etc.

As far as compatibility and price:performance ratio, Mac

On the other hand, for the exact same price, you can get a PC with 8GB RAM, expandable to 16GB, 1.5TB storage, 3.4GHz Intel i7, which you can boost up to 3.8GHz, and an ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card. It comes with an HDMI, eight USBs, memory card slots for SD cards, all of the Memory Stick cards, and more, one FireWire, and both a headphone and mircophone jack. It also comes with a full set of various jacks on the back that I haven't included, and has a built-in wireless network card and an ethernet jack.

The only real comparable specs I see are the headphone/microphone jacks, one FireWire, and the network cards. I didn't mention this earlier, but both of the computers I'm comparing have dual layer burning DVD capability. The Mac mini's maximum speed is 8x, and while I haven't found any information confirming this, I'm sure the PC's is faster because my three year old laptop is faster.

So, for major differences: at the same price, you can effectively double the processing power, gain 50% more storage, gain four USB slots, and memory card compatibility, and go from an integrated graphics card with 256MB SDRAM shared with the rest of your memory to a standalone graphics card with dedicated 1GB memory.

If you go Mac, you'll have to get/find all new software, learn to use a completely different operating system(which isn't without its faults), and waste ~$600(you can get a PC with the same technical specs of the most expensive Mac mini for anywhere from $400-500). On the other hand, if you stay PC, you can figure out how to protect yourself from viruses. With different real-time shields, virus removers, and scanners, you can ensure that you are ten steps ahead of any virus that TRIES to attack your computer. You get the most for your money, and won't need to upgrade the computer for quite a long time. You can put the tower beside your TV, and use it the same way that you'd use a Mac mini.

EDIT: Considering you get a discount at Dell, and a Dell is the computer I was comparing this to, you could save even more money. Full model number is Dell XPS x8300-5215NBK. Don't worry about the different manufacturers, really. They're just different names for the same internal components. The hardware is really where the different manufacturers differ.
