Sony Problems....

I have a friend who's running a 1000 watt sony xplod amp to two 1200 xplod 12's. The problem is once he turns the volume up to 9, the amp goes to "protect" and shuts off. Any possible solutions to this problem?

sounds like its not getting enough power.....might suggest getting larger power wires......more info would help tho...what subs, how are they wired, amp specs, size wire going to amp, etc....

Where the gain and bass boost are set would also be helpful to know
