I'm going to be hooking up my friends system in his first car (Holden Torana) these holidays and in the beggining we will be using an old sony cdx-5040 H/U until he gets enough for a new one (probably pioneer).

But the problem is that we don't have a manual for the sony so I don't know how to wire the doodad.

What i'm asking is do any of you ca.com people have experience with these H/U's and know how to wire them, or have access to a manual.

Cheers

you need to get a wireing harness specific for that car...Holden Torana?...weird...anyways, then you simply match up the wires from the harness to the wires from the deck (color match), then plug it in. you may also need an instalation kit to hold the deck in place(these come with instructions).

oh jeez. well i might be able to help you if it was like a ford or Gm car, but ive never even heard of that kind of car before. see if you can find a Haynes manual on the car. im pretty sure those manuals go through and explain the wireing in the vehicles too.

as for the decks manual...

itll cost ya some money and chances are it wont even help, but if you want it, go for it. im trying to dig up some kinda diagram on standard HU wiring so i dont hafta type out all the info for you

Well Holden is actually a sub-company of GM, the torana was based on the Vauxhall Viva, and was replaced by a rebadged GM J-Car (if that helps at all)

What i actually need is something like this:

Thanks

aint that some shit. its gm...wow. yeah i was tryin to find you a diagram like that but i couldnt get 1. your just looking to find out what all the colors are right? they should say in very small lettering on the wire, if not...black=ground, red=acc, yellow=memory, orange= ill, blue1=rem, blue2=power antenna, green (+ & -)=left rear, purple(+ & -)=right rear, white(+ & -)=left front, and gray (+ & -)=right front...there i typed it all out, i hope that wasnt a waste of time

Just a bit of info for ya:

But yeah, this things so old it's not funny, half of the wires have been trimmed so i can't tell which is which. I think we're just gunna have to buy a new H/U with his next paycheck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks for your help
