Ok guys it may sound dumb, but me and G-monk were talking about this last night. who all actually think u have more cone area when going ported? i know it may sound stupid but actually just think about it for an second. when going ported u actually take advantage of the Back of the cone there for u are using front and rear waves. so if u think of it thats why u can get louder with less woofers ported. i noticed myself with ported that ported enclouser move LOT more air than sealed does,

technically, "cone area" does not change

my understanding is that it is louder because you are making use of front and back waves

i think it would still be the same amount of cone area...just a more efficient and complete use of it.

thats exactly what im saying, if u are using front and back waves, why the cone area wouldnt change? both sides of the cone does move more air so one reason why cone area didnt change?

unless the cone is pushing out, then switching phase and pulling in cone area is constant

if what you're saying is true, then wouldn't it just be a matter or utilizing more cone area?

i think it is a matter or "maximizing" the cone area, but the cone area doesnt change
