Solo X is it really as good as they say? pfft

well, the Solo X lineup was never intended for SQ. With the thicker cone, you loose alot of efficency. Way more cone and weight to push. Now for SPL, they do great.

But how often do you see someone get a 140 lbs woofer, add 5,000 watts to it and say "yea, I'm after SQ"....

Now the dual 12's may have more cone area, but with the proper power, the heavy advantage will go to the Solo X 18.

Actually the 12's should have slightly less cone area. I still believe power compression would be a factor though, the 12's having 2 motors to dissipate the heat.

the solo x really is a beast. theres a guy in hilo with one in his excursion. he "upgraded" from 2 15L7's...theyve got more cone are, but just couldnt take the power...he said he blew like 3 sets of em or something. but yea his box is 14ft^3 i think, and tuned Reeeeeeeeeeeeeally low...hes not the spl competitor or nething...he just likes his bass really low...hes "only" got 2 rf bd1500's on it, but its pretty loud if you ask me. the thing just vibrates the hell outta everything, even when you can hardly hear the bass (tuned really low like i said). but yes. very impressive sub if you ask me

there was a guy here that had one and all i got to say is the thing was massive. Sounded like sh!t but got really loud and if i remmeber right did about 150 on a linear x. BTW he had a 18" and had it in a wall in 20 year old POS car.

true, while the 12's do have slightly less, I should have proof read my earlier post, the dual 12's will have .0129 Sd versus the single 18 at .1426, but the eff of the 12" is 86.6 versus the 18's 90.27, so slight advantage to the 18", and Xmax on the 12's are 13.20 verus the EXmax of the 18" at 24.48, and with proper power (in previous post) the 18 will have the advantage over the dual 12's. Not to mention, with max power, say 5000 watts, the 12's will be maxed, as recommended ported power range is or around 1000 watts.

My god, 55hz....I assume that's for SPL only??

At one time it was nothing but for SPL, but he hasn't competed with it in a long time. Its become more an annoyingly loud daily driver nowadays.
