hi guys. i dont know whats wrong with t he search function, but whenever i search for ALL my posts or threads with my user name, it doesnt list all that i had made. i had responded to a thread, but i cant find it so i must ask again. sorry! anyone else have this "search" problem?

anyway, my question was, for 0/1 or 4 guage wire and crimping, what if you soldered the wire to the connector WITHOUT crimping after making sure the area was clean to solder on? that way, if your a noob, like me or cheapass, you can always use them over again by melting the solder, that is if something screws up ur wire or you have to re-crimp. i read this a while back. i was just worried though how STRONG the connection would be since the wire is just laying in the connector hole.

any thoughts?

if you solder it right, and it sticks well.

its just as good, if not better than a crimp.

if you do it wrong, and it comes out of the crimp? well. you know the rest.

so i think it would be worth a shot. that way if the wire becomes corroded, you can always cut the bad chunk out, and re-solder!

yea. you could.

make sure you get some kind of rubber boot tho, its going to be ugly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i use shrink tubing once in a while. i used it for all the connections with my deck, I just slid the shrink on one wire, soldered all the connections and slipped the shrink stuff onto the soldered connection. Then used heat to shrink the shrink stuff. the other nite tho me n slimshady16 found a lighter works a lot better though... a lot more fun too.
