So what about these "modded" 4000d's-MA

Well I have one of the modded hk's supposivly. Chris from db-r said that he didnt see anywhere where it had been modded, and he tested it at 1 ohm and it did ok but got hot pretty quick and he wouldnt run it at 1 ohm for long. Also he said he did not run it that hard at 1 ohm so he pretty much said if I do run it at 1 ohm be very carefull and at 2 ohms it should be a champ..

Well first off who does all of this modding, second what does it consist of, and third how come 99% of the ones on the site are "MODDED"??

Only answer I have gotten is that they took out a couple of resistors?

Used to people were saying it was modded down to .75 and now I am hearing .5 and I HIGHLY doubt it would do it. But I am not going to try it..

Runs on 18 volts and below 1 ohm... I believe that its meant for burping only. I was running one daily at 2 ohms, and now 4 ohms. Switching to something else though.

But say one was for sale, and I wanted to know it was modded, how could they open it up and show me? And what did MA do, mod every single one of these that they sold? I just dont believe it and I think alot of it is bullshit if any of them are modded. I am just asking because I just had mine repaired and he said he didnt see where anything had been modded ie. anything take out or replaced to make better or whatnot.

I just see all of these people saying "MODDED MA FOR SALE" and I ask them how it is modded and they just say uhhhhhhh the person I bought it from said it was.

The modded amps are the ones that they take a few resistors out and replace it with jumper wires. Your just taking the protection out. So you can go a lower ohm load. There was a post on dbdrag forum about how to step by step what resistors an all back a while ago on there.

When you said that this guy ran it this way and that way. I never had a problem with them. I have ran them at 1 fine not heat problems. Like hey if there in a closed trunk any amp is going to get warm duh right not saying you are. I did some shows burps 12volt .7 two batts no problem went into protect one time there. This was all with an unmodded amp. I have ran them on 12 volts 18 volts. Id turn my external regulator all the way up to 20 volts and run it that way unmodded. I have a apx quad .7 run them on there just fine no problems .7 all year long. I do have the power to back them up. So to each his own. Im fine with them I know others do just fine with them.

Im thinking some ppl are getting scammed on theses amp saying they are modded when there not.
