So now I find out that eDead sucks...

Well I usually try and do my research on things, but this time I jumped the gun and went with the only thing I knew, which was edead. I' m now reading that asphalt based deadeners are terrible and will melt once it gets hot.

It kinda stinks too. The first batch didnt have any odor, however for some reason this second batch i ordered smells very strongly of chemicals and gives me a headache if the windows arent down. I'm really hoping that will go away.

So what do you think I should do? If I wait until it gets hot I will have a really hard time removing the edead. Should I just go ahead and rip off all the edead and replace it with RAAMat or something? I just hate this because I spent 80 bucks on it and now find out It might do more harm than good in the longrun.

Deadening the doors is such a PITA though, I'd really hate to do it again.

Anyway /end rant.

Might as well leave it on there until it falls off, if it decides to.

Where in VA are you? We have quite a good group up here, our assistance is available on some afternoon if you have any deadening projects or stuff of that sort to be done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just leave it there and see if it falls off. If it does, then that'll save you the trouble of tearing it off. If it doesnt fall off, then there's no need to remove it. And yea, go raammat next time.

I'm just worried that if it melts It will never come off.

Also, a little side note whats the best higher range freq. sound deadener. Like an idiot I went with edead v4 (bought 20sq feet of it) and it seems to do its job alright, but I dont know if there are better options out there.

I dont need my car to be really quiet, but my car is pretty noisy (its a 1993 MR2, my tires are really noisy, but at least they grip well. I'm forgetting the originally reason I bought my car. To handle well not sound well...haha)

I'm in Fairfax btw.

I got an order of this from them and it works great. The installation of the ensolite can be kind of tricky if you are working with small areas such as the area behind the speaker, where the window is. You have to use a spray adhesive with the ensolite and it can get messy if you are not careful. Also partsexpress has some foam like this that has the adhesive on the back already. As far as the sounddeadning mat it works great and does not chop up your hands like dynamat.

i use their stuff only for liscense plates, and since here in SD you have to keep the original with you when you have personals, i mount them both so i dont have to try and fit it in my glovebox. Works awesome for my liscense plates //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif i ordered 60 feet of it last time, so i got a few years worth, hahaha.

The eDead v4 actually works pretty well, double layered I put it over my home stereo (which sucks, but still) and it almost completely killed any sound coming from the mid/tweeter on it. So thats good. It is kind of expensive though.

x2

With the forum discount the V4 is only $1.60/ft^2. I also like the new butyl based V1SE^2 which is $1.28/ft^2 with the forum discount. But yeah, the original eDead V1 really sucks. It stunk up my car for about two weeks and then during the summer it completely fell off my trunk lid.

For acoustical foam (this is what you're referring to as "higher range freq sound deadener" I presume), Ensolite from Raammat is an excellent, affordable choice.
cheaper if ya google it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Meh.....Rick's an awesome guy to deal with, and running an awesome company with an awesome product in Raammat. I don't mind putting a few bucks in his pocket and supporting a brand/company/person whom I really believe in...and I don't have a problem encouraging others to do the same.

Not everything is about the bottom line to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
