I used to smoke pot but I quit because of my kids, I dont want to be high around them & I have to take care of them alot..They are young, 9,7,& 3.. Now if im like on vacation or something with out them then im ok with it.. Also if one of my kids comes to me when they are an adult (18 & up) and I find out they smoke pot I would not hesitate to smoke a bowl with them...I'm on alot of prescribed drugs because I have BAD back problems..I take Percocet and Methadone & I would much rather my kids want pot then those drugs..By the way, that meth is BAD BAD stuff!!! If you are on meth please please look for help!!

Weed is a drug. The fact that you think it is not leads me to be glad it is outlawed. Obviously it has killed so many of your brain cells, you no longer know what a drug is.

You can't deny that when smoked in excess it can make you hazy, but as soon as you quit smoking you get everything back. It doesn't actually "kill" brain cells, and this is a fact.

LOL to both of you and every other sheep in here. yea i smoke pot. what of it? oppose it because you dont like it, not because its illegal or because you think its harmful. fact is, cigarettes and alcohol cause more damage to your body. why are they legal? because the govt makes money off of it.

oh and some other food for thought: THC has properties to cure cancer and tumors. which is another reason why weed is illegal. if weed could cure cancer, no drug/pharm companies here could make any money. there is no profit in a cure, only treatment! yes, the carcinogens of burning it can cause pneumonia and other lung related deseases, however, if you vaporize the weed, there are no carcinogens entering your body - only pure THC!

Son, many, no, most of my friends smoke weed and I couldn't care less. I don't judge anyone based on what they do with their time and money even if it is illegal. Point being, there is a point where you get involved to the point of being at the "I could quit if I want to" junction. Once there, again, I have ONLY seen people deteriorate. This is where people aren't really addicted, but are consumed by weed. Smoking multiple times a day, growing your own plants and putting it in front of other responsibilities. THIS, is what I consider a pothead to be. You begin to justify your actions beyond you just enjoy it.
Claiming that it cures cancer is absolutely preposterous. Large doses in controlled experiments in lab animals does NOT equate to the same results in humans. Can it help? Sure, there's research to back it up, but THC isn't some miracle compound. There is no reason to make weed legal, because much unlike any "conventional" drug such as alcohol, tobacco and basic amphetamines such as (pseudo)ephedrine, weed would fail horribly as a legal drug.

The government would only legalize it if they could not only tax it, but also make people want to buy it. Would you give up going to your dealer for some good dank versus some cheap stems that they'd sell for astronomical prices at a convenience store? No, you definitely wouldn't. To solve that, they would either have to begin growing the select varieties or take over existing operations which is absurd to even consider.

I have dozens of reasons why weed should stay a drug in layman's terms, but you don't need to hear them. Just understand that I couldn't care less about your drug habit, but don't assume that I hate drugs and druggies, because that just isn't true. It's when people get consumed by them that I get a little leary.

if you do five minutes worth of research, and five minutes of thinking, you can figure out all their negatives are true, they don't lie, but only because of the way they're worded. the only bad thing is illegality.

do we really want it legal tho? it would take the same route as tobacco, become commercialized and then there would be all kinds of chemicals in it, even though the price would go down, it wouldn't be the same stuff anymore. maybe it's better this way

anyways, i have smoked weed, and i still do occaisionally. i have no problem with anyone who does. The mroe people I meet, the more people i see that actually do it. The amount of people that do it is crazy to me.

The only thing i discussed with her is how i defended myself when she claimed it could ruin my life and how its "unhealthy". Marijuana is not ruining my life, and it it not making me unhealthy. I do realize she is my mother and i respect her feelings regarding marijuana. I am no longer keeping paraphernalia in this house and i am no longer smoking in, or around it. However, i will continue the use of marijuana and I accept the possible legal consequences. That is my decision to do so, not hers.

Just got home from the gym and i went into the kitchen to fix me up a protein shake and she stands there, hands on her hips, pokes me in the chest and gives me this look....and i at first thought it was about the 12 pack in my closet, but then she says "So how long have you been smoking pot?"

"the pipe in your medicine cabinet..." (oh snap, she found Jenny)

i just decide to be (mostly) honest about it. "awhile..." i say...

"how long is awhile?"

"i dunno...." (almost 2 years)

"once every two weeks or so..." (more like once or twice every week)

she goes on to ask if i've been doin meth, heroin, coke and i say no while trying to hold back my laughter. then she brings up how i'm so into being healthy, and how its like im washing and waxing my car then driving it into the mud. i tell her how she's into being healthy too but she smokes. "thats because im a nervous wreck about my drinking pot smoking son!" to which i reply "well its not like i've been drinkin and smokin my whole life..."

then she brings up the typical arguments about marijuana...

"i dont want it to ruin your life!"

"look at me, is my life being ruined right now? im a full time student, i got 3.8 gpa last semester, i have a 4.0 right now, i work 30+ hours a week, and i go to the gym 4 days a week..."

"is there pot in this house?"

"no, i don't buy pot"

"who buys it?"

"my friends..."

"what friends?"

"the friends that i have..."

"so are you doing it because everyone else is?"

"no..."

"so why do you do it?"

"because i enjoy it."

"you enjoy it, is that why?" (uh, yeah!)

"why does anyone do anything?"

I stayed calm and didn't raise my voice, talked about it as maturely as possible.anyways, basically her only solid argument is that its illegal. anything else she came up with i basically shut down.

I've been caught like 6 differnt times throughout the course of my life by my mom hahaha. First 3 times I was under 18, so I really didn't have much say in any punishment she gave me (i was also slackin *** in high school).

When I turned 18 i said i'm 18 years old I can make my own decisions. She said "well then you can find another place to live". I didn't have a job yet, so I had to just be more sneaky about it.

At 19 I got caught again (still living at home) and we actually fought about it hardcore and didn't talk for about a week. She came back with "I don't care taht you smoke pot (being the hypocrite she has been smoking pot for a long time on and off)

At 20 I got caught one more time but this time I had a full-time job (at my current place of employment) , kicking *** in school, and still managing to smoke. She was still p*ssed. So I moved out right before I turned 21 and now that i pay my own bills and am completely self-sufficient, I can get stoned and go to my mom's to eat dinner.

Funny story, my girlfriend actually had a long talk with my mom about me smoking (im a chronic pothead lol) and she actually said that my Dad was the same way. We both suffer from anxiety but I'm not on any medications. I get so worked up and p*ssed off that the only way I know how to calm down is to burn one. I use it more of an anxiety medicine than anything. Hey it beats a xanax (anxiety medicine) addiction.

Long story short, everyone is happy. And me and mary jane are still good ole pals.

I used the argument alot (when i got out of high school) that when it shows that I'm ruining my life (bad college scores, etc...) is when I'll stop using it. That always gets 'em.

Be like "Mom, what else do you want from me? I get good grades, I work my *** off, and I am a good kid (hopefully)".

Would you give up going to your dealer for some good dank versus some cheap stems that they'd sell for astronomical prices at a convenience store? No, you definitely wouldn't. Wrong. They only need to mandate control not take over. They do this with Alcohol and Tobacco. When faced with the convenience and the fact that it is legal, people get their spirits from the liquor store instead of the backwoods distiller potting moonshine. They did this relatively quickly after the prohibition was lifted. It is illegal to circumvent this control and distill your own or to grow and distribute your own tobacco. Rather than risk obtaining it illegally, people legally purchase it and pay the tax. The same would happen here. People would rather much go to the 7-11 on their block to obtain it than meeting somewhere with a dealer.
I also disagree with your thinking that only crap would be available. It would be controlled and more consistent. You would still get variety just like with alcohol because people like to pay for choices on how they should kill themselves. Thinking the government can't legalize, tax, and control it is absurd.

IF they ever did legalize it, their would be alot of new greenhouses going up. This would bring it into the range of free enterprise, which would mean people would be setting up shop to sell / grow pot.
