So, Limewire is ghey... what p2p source do you use?

By June of 1865, around 40,000 freed slaves were settled on 400,000 acres (1,600 km²) in Georgia and South Carolina. Soon after, President Johnson reversed the order and returned the land to its white former owners. Because of this, the phrase has come to represent the failure of Reconstruction and the general public to assist African Americans

1. What is a deed?

A deed is the document that transfers ownership of real estate. It

contains the names of the old and new owners and a legal description of

the property, and is signed by the person transferring the property.

2. Do I need a deed to transfer property?

Almost always. You can't transfer real estate without having something

in writing. In some situations, a document other than a deed is used--

for example, in a divorce, a court order may transfer real estate from

the couple to just one of them.

IE CON-TRACT!!!

Peace

I think we are seeing it now with a fragmented marketplace. There is music available for a wide variety of avenues. I actually think it will be good for the music industry as a "quality of music" concern. Because I listen to rap (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif) much of it is formula based...where the musician becomes the puppet of the industry, particularly of the record label. As the record labels lose more and more money due to downloading, alternative distribution mechanisms, etc...they may decide to "get out of the game." Doing so (in my fantasy land) will level the playing field with artists without such a record contract, advertising budget, radio time, etc. It will allow the artists to be creative again.
I think it will be good.
To me, there are a number of middle-men at the moment...

Artist > Agent > Record Label > Retailer > Consumer

If you can at least get rid of one of those in the chain, you should be able to cut down on the price of an album and maybe retain some sales.

In my imagination, I see...

Artist > Agent > Consumer

Agents handle a smaller number of clients and help the artist get their work out. The artist has to be capable of creating the content and "pushing" their content.

Selling online allows an artist to control distribution and pricing. At the retail level, you can still offer special box sets where big fans can spend a bunch of their cash on something with original artwork, liner notes, bonus tracks, etc.

In other words, I like the approach Radiohead took. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I like the

artist --> consumer approach...that way the artist can receive direct feedback...and create music more focused. However, there is far far less money with that. The people who pass out CDs on 2nd avenue (Middle TN's 'party' district) take this approach, but their is no opportunity to try.

Did I misunderstand that Radiohead approach? I thought they where selling the CD direct from the website?

You sir would make a great lawyer...lAnd no but it is necessary to have somethign like an order or a deed to get the land.
I want to be a derivatives trader, not a laywer. I do this for fun.

How the Special Orders were actually executed, I have no clue. Since that area was under military rule at the time, I would think the whites there had no rights. But that is just armchair conjecture.

They sold the album as a download from their website and in a separate special edition box set.

For In Rainbows, Radiohead retained ownership of the album recordings and song compositions. The download and "discbox" versions of the album are self-released by the band, for the CD release, the band is licensing the music to record labels. The album's licensing agreements for all releases are managed by the band's publisher Warner Chappell Music Publishing.
