personally experience is alot better then a peice of paper. most of the things you would learn in classroom activities will not stick in your head as well as hands on experience. just my 2 cents

Okay, Famous, I've had my fun at your expense now I'll let you be, fella.

Seriously, though - congrats on passing the exam and here's hoping (in all seriousness now) that it helps you on your way to whatever career in mobile audio that you're after. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Well seemings ive been doing this for a year about before i left for school and weve had alot of hands on here too, i think ive got that coverd for now.

You guys shouldn't be so vicious... even those of you with 4, 5, 6k+ posts had really laughable beginnings and we can all read them by going to the public profile and clicking on "find all threads started".... databases are a wonderful thing...

In all honesty, congratulations on getting certified- however, I will leave you with this-

If car audio is something that you are serious about making a career out of, make absolutely sure of it. I got into the installation business several years ago, after already having several years of personal experience (as a hobby). I was extremely excited to be doing what I loved to do as a job. I loved doing it for the first year or so, but after that, I got burnt out rather quickly. I then realized that car audio, for me at least, was best enjoyed as a hobby.

Yeah imma try it as a carrer, i came here to gain knowledge rather or not i actually make a job out of it or a hobby. I still have the backing for my own personal pleasure knowing i do, or doing side work outta my garage.

Well, good luck with it, seriously. Some people love doing it as a job, some have gone through the same thing I did.

I hate MECP in it's current form, personally.

It makes all of those idiots who don't really have a clue of what's going on in the technical side think that their highly mistaken "knowledge" holds some sort of superior value because they are "MECP Certified".

after seeing this, i'm no longer nervous at all about taking my mecp basic monday... i studied up though (even though the study guide is a joke, never seen such vague wording in something thats supposed to be teaching) so i'm not to worried about it.

i'm really only planning on installing for a year or two, get my debts caught up so i can get some real education.

well i'm sure it's no different than the A+, MS, and Cisco certs.... man the crap I've heard from A+ cert guys about computers... for one I had a guy say that aluminum is a better heat conductor than copper, and that no copper heatsinks existed.... however the certs are a good way to get hired at your first or second job. After that your experience will count for alot more.
