The price has really nothing to do with the election. In case you have been under a rock the past few months our economy is going to hell. The lack of demand (along with the added speculation that there will be less demand, ie. futures) is what is causing the decrease in price.

ECONOMIC INSTABILITY WHICH IS CAUSING MARKETS TO BE UNPREDICTABLE AND DROP CONSIDERABLY.

NO ONE WANTS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE MARKETS, SO DEMAND ON THINGS TENDS TO BE LOW REALIGNING THE PRICE STRUCTURES.

All I know is that when I went to pick up the wife at the Canton-Akron airport, which is 45 minutes away from where I live, gas went from 2.79 a gallon where I live to 2.39 near the airport.
