everything's lookin great and all.

But here's what gets me. Every time I go, they tell me that I need to brush up towards my gums some more, because they're irritated and bleeding afterwards.

Well, as a person that brushes his teeth twice a day, I'd like to say...

Maybe my gums are irritated and bleeding because you just got done poking and jabbing them with that sharp metal needle thingy. And then you whipped out the polisher and ended up polishing my gums instead of my teeth.

does anyone elses' dentist do that? it pisses me off.

got to a dif dentist and get them cleaned...or get a new tooth brush with thingies that massage your gums like me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah, everytime i go to get my teeth checked and cleaned they stick that needle in and then i get home and brush my teeth and they bleed, then weeks go by and they don't bleed anymore, heh my dentist also tells me to brush my gums more often and floss too.

Brushing your gums prevents nasty cottege cheese-like build up between the teeth and gum.

I use a crest spinbrush pro and change the head and batteried every 6 weeks... My teeth are squeaky clean. If it wasnt for the check-up I wouldnt bother getting my teeth cleened every 6 months.

My whole life I've had 1 small cavity, dont need braces, and likely wont have to have my wisdom teeth taken out.

The first was from me taking care of my teeth. The other two I got luckey on.

lucky you, i ended up with 6 wisdom teeth. at 38, FOUR had to come out. Now at 39, I have 1/3 the wisdom I did!

The cool thing is I have wisdome teeth. But I have maybe 1-3mm gaps between all of my teeth (enough to where it's there but it isnt hideous or noticable) and my wisdom teeth are comming in, it is uncomfertable at times but my teeth are going to make room for them to come in and be just like 2nd molers.

Something may mess up and I end up having to have them taken out in the next couple of years...but the procedure will be much less painfull as they wont have to cut anything.

My GF just had her's cut out. She's been ****ed up on Vicoden for the past 4 days. The anesthesiologist gave her too much sodium pentethol and she was seriously ****ed up right after she got out of surgery.

My dentist tells me the same thing as OP. Thing is I don't take as good of care orally as I should. I have two cavaties that im getting filled on the 29th, and I have another up top that they didnt see before, and then they will fill that one later.

The weird thing is, though, I go every 6 months like I should. And everytime I go, they say I have good teeth. They just tell me I need to floss, which I don't. It was just this last checkup that I suddenly had 2 cavaties, and now a third. And I havn't done anything different for the last 3 years.

I worked @ a dentist office for 2 years, and bleeding gums indicates signs of gum disease. Brushing @ a 45 degree angle towards to gum line helps remove plaque underneath the loose gingival. Brush in a circular motion with very little pressure, brushing too hard can result in gum line recession (exposure of the roots). Flossing is also an under looked preventative measure, but people disregard it because it seems insignificant. You can brush twice a day and still get cavities if you don't floss. Flossing isn’t just about getting food out of the cracks of your teeth, but to get under the loose portions of your gums.

A person with good oral hygiene should never have bleeding gums.

my top wisdom teeth grew in , no problems.
Alot of people have their wisdom teeth grow in without the risk of crowding. However, Wisdom teeth are very difficult to keep clean which is why many dentist recommend removing them to prevent further complications. I've seen cases where people decided to keep their wisdom teeth, and it payed off when their 2nd or 3rd molars had to be extracted. The wisdom teeth actually bunches closer to fill the missing gap!
