well today i got to drive my car with the alt put in. soon noticed that around 2krpm i could hear a whine coming from my engine bay. it's louder at 3krpm. i've been trying to search for a solution but i keep coming up on power steering pulleys.. which i don't think is the problem.

i noticed the tension on the alt, a/c, cranckshaft is pretty tight copared to the pully on the crank and power steering. i can't tell exactly where it's coming from but it's coming from that area.

the power steering pump had to be removed in order to access the alternator. so all belts had to be removed. is it possible that when the parts where replaced they were not placed in correctly?

should i take it in to a shop and have them adjust the belts and tensions accordingly?

the tension wing nut for the alternator can be completely loosed but the alt doesn't shift any to loosen the belt. i think the alt bolts are too tight.

sounds to me like you figured it out, i would def take it back and have the shop take a peak at it and get it all straight, one item might not be set just rite causeing the issue

cool. it's always good to get a second opinion.

i put the alt on myself so i'm sure i didn't get soemthing on right. i'd rather have someone more advanced fix my screw up before it gets any worse.
