So i messed up and now its time to upgrade

I had two JBL's 1004d 10in in a sealed box with a TMA 500.1 amp suppling 500 watts or 250 watts each which is their RMS(not just my word but a professional installer) anyways so on my own I was getting impatient touched my amp at the wrong time and poof. So here I am deciding on a few options to upgrade to. My friend's brother has 2 12 orion cobalts pretty old that I can buy for 80 dollars total. However I was looking at some polk on crutchfield buy one get one. But just some of what I've been looking at. I'll take any suggestions.

Im not two picky just looking for recomended brands opinions on Polk, size I was thinking of 12's because 10's were kinda weak once i amplified my speakers. Or any ideas concerning other sizes and boxes.

I was on the phone with crutchfield and they said they thought it was the subs. Also when i pushed on them, one dust came out of it didnt sound right Im not sure about the other one. I havn't yet tested the subs to be sure, also is the only way to check the amp to hook other subs to it?

yake a nine volt battery and put pos on pos and neg on neg and that will most likely tell you if they are blown.

you can take a dmm and check the voltage on the amp coming from the speaker terminals.

first off if one is blown the other prob isnt right...haha i hope not. Also those polk a good choice, thanks patrick for the suggestion just the 10's just feel short of my expectations last time I felt like i had to push them to hard

Buy the Oroin cobalts and spend the $120 on a sick ported box for them. that should slam pretty hard. or get the polks.

well im starting to believe its the amp. I did some test instead of listening to the people on the phone at least one of the subs checks out i need to test the amp so now i have 4 subs ..haha i dont know i got some major figuring to do

so it was an rca cable which is cool i think im going for more subs now haha ....any decent amps for relitvily cheap looking for around 400 watts each for 2 subs
