Before the main hard drive on my old computer completely took a dump, I transfered all the files I wanted off of it to the second HDD I had in there. I wasn't thinking and opened the new one about to throw the old drive in it and it doersn't have the same connections. (Before you flame me, I know that computer tech. has advanced but it slipped my mind.)

Is there such a cable SATA to IDE or USB to IDE?

Also, will the old video card from the old comp -Radeon 9200 128mb PCI do me any better than the nVida 6150 on the motherboard?

you could get an external box to house the ide and run it to USB (edit, sorry )

your new computer should have an IDE port inside though.

I don't know about that video card but most of the time, add-in video is better than integrated.

word life

buying an external case for the hard drive would be easiest and that way it is portable backup

yes they do make sata/ide converters, but if it is ide there should be connections on the motherboard, 99% of all motherboards offer both ide and sata

that video card wont be much of an upgrade to the onboard video, it is old and pci interface

you really need a new video card , radeon 9200?? i payed like 65 for my radeon 9600 almost 2 years ago ,
hell, now you can get a x800xt for a pretty decent price, or a geforce 6800
Well I can't say I agree that he "REALLY" needs a new card. It will totally depend on what he does with the computer.

I do agree with you that the card he is using is a very poor performing card, but if he just checks online, word docs etc, it is way more than he needs.

yes, there is a sata to IDE cable... it came with my abit nf7-s motherboard... dunno if you can buy them separate... it's been years since i looked at computer stuff...

I can search out an adapter if you really want one ^^^ there is some available, but no need as his computer will have an IDE. You may have to change your cd rom to cable select and then add the hard-drive.
