So, i just got back from the place that will be installing my sub...

Walked in feeling really good today, to schdule an oppointment to get the sub installed, i knew a custom box was going to be needed, so i brought $800 just to cover everything, aparently it wasnt enough.

I have a 92 camaro, so there isnt much room going on back there, trying to put a 15" avalanche in with a couple amps, the guy who seems like he knows what hes doing wants to do it all in fiberglass, have everything looking all pretty with the amps and everything (to much to explain) and in the end have the sub fireing down, for a total of $1,255 with materials, labor, and tax...

So its going to be about another 3 weeks before i get all this going on.

What are your thoughts on having the sub fire down, is there much audiable different then having it fire normaly, and also does that price seem good to get it all done in glass, everything.. the amps, sub, crossovers, etc?

have them build the box in the back dip and have it flair over into the hatch area, then fire the sub outwards... then glass the amps over the struts and Xovers either around the amps or on the sides behind the wheel wells

thats what i would do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i think that's a pretty decent price, only if hes going to do an excellent job.

has you seen some of his prior FG work that hes done. remember ones hes done its yours, so make sure hes good.

as far as the subs facing into the box or out, i prefer facing out, I'm not sure about this but, since there is more cone area making the sound wave that you want to hear and your kind of looking to cancel out or minimise the one inside the box, so i have to say them facing out will sound some what better or louder.

also some speakers make noise from the air rushing in and out the vent port on the back of the magnet. you don't want to hear that.

He says that the sub is going to be wired out of phase, or something along those lines i think, since the sub will be faceing out, i THINK this is what he said, i always thought this was a bad thing and would cause the sub to act pretty screwey?

Indeed, they are different generations totally, his is for something closet to chris's car.. the bad of my trunk looks much different, as does the whole car...

What did this guy mean "the sub will be wired out of phase" since its going to be sticking out like that?

they go in generations, 85-92 is what i have (3rd gen) 77-84 is 2nd, etc etc, i think "generations" stopped after the 4th, dont think they plan on doing anything new to the camaro after the 4th... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Is the new camaro when it comes out going to be called 5th gen?
