So I just bought an optima red top

My old battery was a durastart i think? Not sure of the exact name but it was just a regular car battery. Recently the battery wouldn't hold its charge over 10hrs of the car being shut off, and I would have to be jumped almost every morning. So i went and bought a red top.

I was amazed at the difference it makes. My amps are a JBL BP1200.1 and a phoenix gold octane R804 powering my speakers. As soon as I hooked up the battery and played a song i could hear a huge difference especially with my comps. The tweets are more detailed and the bass has much more punch to it. This is with only 1 of the big 3 done, i'm looking forward to hearing it when I get the other 2 wires done.

Basically what I am saying is, its worth it to upgrade to a deep cycle battery.

Yes a new better battery does wonders for your electrical system.

But for the record the red-top is not a deep cycle battery.

I was going to go with the yellow top but it didn't have enough CCA for my car. I thought the red tops were deep cycle? didnt know they weren't. Learn something new everyday.

Yeah just the yellow tops and blue tops are deep cycles. But I have had much better luck with red tops under hood anyways.

i just bought a 60.00 everstart battery when i needed an electrical upgrade lol. i bet it works just as well as your 150.00+ redtop

thats what my old battery was. an everstart. ****er didn't even last 2 years.

maybe yours was faulty. the batter in the car before i replaced it was an everstart, and had been there for over 7 years. it had no problems except for the fact it wasnt putting out enough voltage to keep my subwoofers at an optimal level

the red top discharges energy faster than the yellow top btw..............so if your everstart battery discharges energy faster than a yellow top then NO.....your $60 everstart ain't "as good" as a red top....nor has the deep cycle abilities of the yellow.........its not $140+ for nothing.
