Hey folks! I have been so **** close to buying a DEH-P880PRS throughout the past few months. I even put in a bid for one along with the Ipod controller via Ebay, and was denied (Offer was 20 dollars below asking price.) Many of you on here have helped stear me in the right direction, and I appreciate every post.

So I got a call from a freind of a freind that REALLY needed the money tonight and was giving up his beloved 9815. The HU is in pretty good shape. Very minimal micro scratches on face, plenty of wire on the harness, included cage, trim ring, remote, face case, and even an AInet to RCA pig tail. He was asking $150 for everything. The cool thing about this is he had it hooked up in his car and I got to hear it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif He was in between systems I guess so he had it hooked to stock speakers, but it still sounded amazing. Sorry to go on and on, long story short, he took $135 and was stoked. I feel like I got a pretty good deal, especially compared to the $300 plus that I was going to spend on the 880.

What do you guys think? Did I pay too much for the unit, or is that about right?

Also, anyone with 9815 knowledge that feels like offering any advice, Please feel free! As always, I appreciate all the cool people on this board who offer up thoughtfull advice and take time to post.

I have one and I love it,I finally mastered the eq section and the x-over section, very nice hu, better than most of the new 2006 models. for the manual I belive if you go to the tech support on the Alpine website you will find what you are looking for.

Wow, some really quick replies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Appreciate the link NisAznMonk! The Alpine manual logon link off Alpine-USA seems to be broken, so the crutchfield link did the trick. Looks like I have some reading to do, which is a good thing because this is the first time I have had so much control over my sound. I'm debating on going active right away (tomorrow). I now have the ability to go active and have the amps and speakers to support it, but have only ran traditional systems in the past. Im thinking about just going for it (reading the manual first of course) and enjoying the ride.

Anyhow, im really excited about this. Seems like I made the right decision. Coming from a Sony C-90 without processing, this is like night and day with all the functionality //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i love this hu... maybe ill have another one, once i buy my car... it has just about everything i want in a HU, and it looks sharp and without the unnecessary eye-candy...

for the price you paid, i'd say it was a steal...

try using it on 3way mode... it sounded an universe better than on 2way for me...

Just a quick update - I installed the 9815 yesterday without issue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I decided to start with active 2 way setup until I become more familiar and get comfortable with the crossovers. This HU is spectacular. The dash in my 66' Impala is shaped with an upward angle, which normally isn't ideal for viewing the HU during the day, but there is absolutely no issues viewing this bad boy in direct sunlight. All of my previous HU's were practically unreadable, where the 9815 really shines. Night time, forget about it. I love how bright the illumination is on the display. There is even a dimmer wire that you can hook to your headlight switch, but i'm not using it. So as of now, I am still getting comfortable with the EQ and crossovers. I may try the I-perosonalize via Alpines site just to see how it works. I'll get my camera out later on today and post up a pic. This thing looks sick in my car.

Oh, one question fellas- If I change the switch on the chassis to go 3 way active, is the internal amplifier disabled all together? I searched the .PDF for internal amplifier and read that you can turn it off. But didn't see any info as to if I can run 3 way active and run a pair of 6x9's off the rear speaker outs. I know most people try to steer clear of rear fill while using 3 way, but I have Sony Mobile ES 6x9's in the rear package tray. If the internal amp is disabled in network mode, I could always just leave them in as dummies.

Thoughts?
