Alpine IDA x001...

and wasnt aware that it doesnt have a cd player...at first I was like forget this crap...but realized it's all USB...it's best with the ipod, but I was thinking it can use an usb source...so couldnt I use a external hard drive? but the problem is you have to power the external hard drive...what would be best to do?

Sucks though when you want to pop in a brand new CD... or a friend/you have a song you want to hear on a CD... or you have a custom mix CD and don't necessarily know all the names/titles of the songs...

the HD idea is pretty good, just need a powersupply that will provide the proper voltage to it.

Buy a portable harddrive that is USb powered.

Tigerdirect.com has portable 160gb harddrives for $100 shipped. They are compact and run off the power of the USB plug.

but atleast it doesnt totally say fugg the cd's...it can handle a disc changer via ai-net..so thats a plus.
