I'll keep it short. I have some amps I know I will just never will sell them. So I called this place seeing what they had and what I could trade my amps for. The guy asks me what subs I have. Well Im not sure what Im going to run next. I go and tell him about my APX atomic sub. Hes like what. Never heard of it. Goes of the phone and I can hear him asking some dude. Comes back says he's never heard of the sub. So I name a few companies to him. And I say DD subs. He then goes back talks to the guy and I can hear this all through the phone. I hear the guy tell him the Digital Designs the company are a low end brand. That they are Cheap and cant really handle the power.

So Im like WOW you know. But I know its not unexpected from ppl. I been down this road before with my APX sub. In the area everyone always asks about it. So Im like to the guy. Are you sure we are talking about the same company. He like yeah my guys they know it all they dont need to look up anything there like its like a JL subs.

Then he talked about this company that is like all over the place in the NJ area local flea markets. Its called Menace Audio. Menace Audio, Inc.

Thats the web Site and they are very very cheap crap. I see them all over craigslist in my area too. Just woundering how far in the US do they go.

I run into the same think locally. I work at Desiard St. Pawn and Car Audio here in Monroe, La. Used to, people always came in looking for used JL, Kicker, Alpine, and Memphis. Well, we carry DD, dBDrive, and Arc...all badass stuff. But, people would hadn't heard of them so they didn't care and would ask for L7's and M3's. We used to sell MTX, but had so many returns on the 5500's it was sad.

Now, we have the DD name out there in the area, and a HUGE percent of our foot traffic is people coming in specifically looking for DD. A year ago, people would walk in and say "what are those Dare Devil subs?" The locals are finally seeing what DD can do and our budget DD installs out there are really turning heads. Stuff like pairs of DD512's on 6-700w in my boxes are killing M3's on 1000w+...pairs of DD1512's are dominating most local setups and they are spending far less than their friends.

People are just brainwashed on mainstream brands. Once they get their ***** handed to them by a good install, they show up at my door.

i run 3 apx 10s and maybes 1 out of 50 people know them and the rest just do like you said and blow them off until i say well they weigh 50 pounds each... and they take a look at the subs and the size of box they are in... then i do a demo... then they seem to change their mind a little

Well he asked me RMS on my Apx 18. Im like well I dunno. 3-4 K. About 20k for burps. It like blew his mind. And the guy behind him was like BS. I was about to tell him about me running my Ma Audio Hk amps at 18 volts. Im sure that would of blew his mind as well.

He said I should use a sony 1200 wat amp for a DD sub. Im like really????

yeah i get asked about how much they can handle everytime someone sees them i just tell them the most i had on one was 3kw rms but to most people they dont see that as much because all they know are sony watts not true rms but then i tell them at the moment im only running about 300rms to each of them and its a nice little mind **** to them

just because you know about it doesnt' mean the whole world does. i've noticed though that some brands people would think as common arne't. i've people aboout xtant, mb quart, image dynamics, sundown(it's pretty much everywhere right). and they always ask are they good?

Well The person knew about DD subs. Not sure were how he got his info from about the line. As he said DD is a low line of subs. I know how to do business. And Im sure he is just saying that to SELL his stuff. But still to refuse to look things up to even learn because he says " He knows it all" been doing audio for a long time.

I should challange them to a duel.

and you would win, because when I was in there trying to pawn all my old crap, I asked him how much he wanted for one of his capacitors for shits and giggles and he said $60. he does have some older pre-art series ppi amps there though. I'd like to scoop them up but he always wants a ridiculous amount for them.
