so how efficient is my 1000.1 crunch anyway ?

hey guys i'm running a 1000.1 crunch (1000rms) to my atlas12 (900 rms) only i dont think the amp is putting out 1000 or even 900, i've messed with the settings, i seen a post on here saying a class AB amp (like mine) is only 60 % efficient, does this mean im only getting 600rms ? ( 60% of 1000)

wow, U are really really really off.... The efficiency is caculated before the "rated power" of the amplifier. Say your amp suppose to put out 1,000 watts rms. Than its suppose to draw around 69.4amps (if it was 100% efficient) But its not. So say it's like 60% efficiant than that means it has to draw about 116 amps instead of the 69.4 amps to put out 1,000rms. Because 116 amps x 14.4v = 1670.4 x 0.6 (since its only 60% efficient) = about 1,002rms.

The amplifier is still suppose to put out its rated power, but it just needs to draw more current to get that power.

But than again it's a crunch so the power ratings are probably overrated anyways.

oh i think i understand, i was just confusing "efficency" with "actual power output" you kno? what is the definition for efficiency pertained to an amp?

btw- how much do you think my crunch is actually pushing ?
