small wiring help

i bought a jive asss sony sub yesterday for $40. one of those 8" ones in the silver cabnit. powering it with my 350 watt amp. the problem is the sub has a gray wire coming out and one side of the wire is completly gray and the other is gray with a small black stripe goin throught it. which of these is positive and which is negative?

typically the one with the black stripe is the negative one. But to be shure get a nine volt battery and touch the neg. pole to the wire with the line and the pos. pole to the wire without. If the sub moves out then the neg. wire has the stripe, if it moves inward then it is the opposite, the one with out the line is neg. I hope that explanation is clear, if not PM me and ill explain it more in depth

don't know. if its written on there, i can't see it, cause it's 22AWG wire.
