OMAHA, Neb. -- A small Nebraska town is rallying around what community members say are two key members of their community.
Marian Shabram was shot at Immanuel Hospital Monday afternoon in Omaha.
Investigators said she was the victim of an attempted purse snatching when she was critically injured.
Shabram was visiting her ailing husband and had driven hours from her home in Neligh, Neb.
Omaha police say they are still looking for the shooter in the case.
They are still reviewing hospital surveillance tapes and hope to have some more descriptions to release to the public soon.
In the meantime, the whole town of Neligh is praying for Shabram's recovery and for her husband's.
Friends of the victims told KETV that they were supposed to be home by Tuesday afternoon.
Leroy Shabram had undergone cancer-related surgery.
"They said it was even a miracle she survived the night,” Kathy Schultz said.
The Shabram’s are all people are talking about in the town.
"No one should have to be afraid to go visit their husband in the hospital,” Schultz said.
"She's one of those people that small towns can't live without,” St. Francis Church Paster Mark McKercher said. "She's a Eucharist minister, she's an officer in the rosary sodality."
McKercher said leroy has been move from Immanuel to Creighton University Medical Center so he can be closer to his wife.
The family has released a statement saying Marian is in critical but stable condition and that they're grateful for all the support during this difficult time.
